The cyst developed for years completely un-noticed, deep under the skin (the reservoir was described as as deep and big around as your little finger). A bump started to form over the course of a few days before the lancing, and at night the patient hit it with his foot in bed and woke up from the pain. They called the doctor and his suggestion was a home lancing and the patient could come in the next day for a full cleaning. His grandmother with prior medical experience did it at home and the next day he went to the doctor to get it cleaned.
