There was so many dives outside the 18 yard box, because referees are more likely to give a free kick there than a fall inside it, and there is a good chance to score from it, Japan alone scored two goals from just outside this box in one game. So if you actually review all the falls in these area you will be shocked to find out how many were dives? Soccer sports has become a joke, its popularity will remain in the 3rd world and mallet and thong wearing Europeans. I will come back to soccer when they introduce video replay and start penalizing unsportsmanship conducts. Till then FIFA officials can sit on my greasy, unwashed finger.

you have to watch it a couple times but you can see buddy slow down to kick him....you have to have a good eye to see it i had to rewind it at least a dozen times to see it....it might be so slight that buddy played it off and went for the dive......every sport has divers in it so don't pick on soccer just cause your flabby ass can't run that much

You people should really remove this video from your "joke" portfolio. The opposing player clearly steps on his heel. I don't know about anyone else, but, if someone raked their steel cleats across my achilles tendon, I would go down like a sack of bricks, too. While I do agree that there are many, many instances of gratuitous dives, this is not one of them. Give the Italian player a break! Watch the video closely just before he falls. You can see the opposing player's line of sight shift as he steps on him, then he manages to avoid running over him. He even changes his stride in order to accomplish his feat. Watch the video closely!
